INFO:
If you brush your kids hair once a week, please sit this one out. In black culture, we are taught from childhood the importance of grooming and taking care of ourselves. Not just because it’s common sense, but because we have to be well groomed if we want a “chance” at respect. From being greased down with vaseline and coco butter so we are not ashy, to getting our hair done on a daily basis, even if we are just “staying in the house”. As a black mother, I groom my children daily and that includes hair. And NO I am not buzzing off his gorgeous curls that we celebrate because it will make the internet more comfortable if he doesn’t cry for 2 minutes while I take care of him. That would be like pulling all his teeth because he doesnt like getting his teeth brushed 🥸
