According to authorities, the teenager was allegedly taken from Xai Xai, Mozambique, by an alleged traditional healer, who promised her work in a salon. But when they arrived in Hendrina, South Africa, he reportedly told her there was no job and that he wanted to make her his wife. She was allegedly assaulted, raped, and given unknown substances during her captivity. She was finally rescued in July 2024 after a passerby noticed her suffering and alerted the police. 🚔 The Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit got involved after learning about the case during an anti-human trafficking awareness campaign. They launched an investigation, discovering that the suspect had fled to Mozambique. He was arrested on February 24, 2024, upon his return to South Africa.
