INFO:
Not all butter is created equal in the supermarket 🧈 When on your grocery shop, many of the “spreads” and “blends” sitting with the butters can be easily mistaken for butter if one doesn’t check the ingredients list. Many of these products contain seed oils, vegetable fats and other additives. It might look like butter, but it definitely ain’t butter! According to Australian food regulations, specifically the Food Standards Code, butter must be derived solely from cream or milk and contain a minimum of 80% milk fat - no additional oils or ingredients are permitted. This ensures its purity and authenticity. In contrast, spreads and blends are formulated with alternative fats like seed oils and other additives that exempt them from these strict requirements. For the highest quality option, I recommend grass-fed butter. Produced from cows fed on pasture, it meets the legal standards while offering enhanced flavour and packed with beneficial nutrients such as butyrate, conjugated linoleic acid, omega-3 fatty acids, fat soluble vitamins and more. It gets even better if you can find raw butter from a reliable source. So just remember, when shopping for butter at the supermarket, don’t forget to check the ingredients list to confirm you are getting what you’re looking for - the good shit.
